“RADIOSA” OFFIDA PASSERINA D.O.C.G.

RADIOSA Offida Passerina Docg is made by Passerina in purezza vines cultivated on a clayey ground full of microelements. Harvested in the early of October. The method of product consists in a cold maceration prefermentation of 24 hours: soft pressing of the grapes, controlled temperature fermentation and growth in steel basins for few months.
The color is straw-yellow with green reflections.
The smell has an aromatic intensity typical of the vine, wrapping with yellow fruit reflections, balanced and good persistence.
The taste has ripen fruit sensation with lively acidity and the right balanced.
Gastronomic pairings: it comes with all the fish cook, but it is adapted also to first dish and white meat.
Temperature: about 10-12° Celsius.

“RADIOSA” OFFIDA PASSERINA D.O.C.G.

VINE: Passerina 100%.
TYPE OF GROUNG: clayey and full of microelements.
SYSTEM: spurred cordon, 4.000 plants/HA installation density.
HARVEST: the early of October
METHOD OF PRODUCTION: cold prefermentation maceration of 48 hours, soft pressing of grapes with alcoholic fermentation with controlled temperature and ageing on its lees.
COLOR: straw-yellow color with light green reflections.
PERFUME: : The smell has an aromatic intensity typical of the vine, wrapping with yellow fruit reflections, balanced and good persistence.
TASTE: The taste has ripen fruit sensation with lively acidity and the right balanced.
GASTRONOMIC PAIRINGS: it comes with all the fish cook, but it is adapted also to first dish and white meat .

CURIOSITY OF PASSERINA VINE
Passerina is a vine of trebbiani family and it is considered native to the central-eastern Italy. It found its areal distribution in Marche region and, in other way, in Abruzzo and Romagna.
. Probably Passerina has this name for the little dimension of its grapes. It’s a vine with big leaf, medium bunch almost rare, consisting-winged, petiole very short; medium and large grape, a little bit dotted, yellowish at ripe.
HISTORY
In the 60s the viticulture becomes mixed viticulture and its diffusion was subject to a contraction in favor of Trebbiano Toscano, more productive vine but less value from the qualitative point of view. This vine has a good productivity and a good qualitative grapes level especially for the acidity component. The containment of productive could improve the level of sugar musts.
PRODUCTION
I can be made in purità or blended with the other vines. In the first case you can have a typical wine with a good aromatic intensity. Its richness in acidic component allows both sparkling with Charmat and classic method. The versatility of this grape variety has encouraged its introduction in the DOC "Offida" where, in addition to type "Sparkling" you can also find the "Holy Wine" and "Raisin", especially in Fermo area where it is also used for the production of "cooked wine".
Passerina, blended with Pecorino, has made a significant contribution to the improvement of quality of DOC "Colli Falerio Ascoli," which not long ago could only be produced with Trebbiano Toscano.
